This poem is an exploration of the relationship between humanity and technology - particularly smart phones and social media. A cage in search of a bird, palm-dweller that steals minds with pillow-talk in darkened rooms, soft whispers that lend the Z eternal youth in a pixelated never-never-land where egos feed on dopamine and the id is so subsumed by the super-egos of the merchant's algorithms suckling on our life-feeds that we fail to notice fail to notice that a fleeting glance is sucking both night and day and this turbulent temple that once promised connection and salvation has become the invention that may lead to our destruction this man-made thing that reflects us all that mirrors hearts for good or ill is a double-edged sword and though we touch its face with love and heart and gentle grace within that…
